Privacy Policy

Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google's OAuth service. We store only your name and a unique identifier (OpenID) — we do not store your Google password.

Usage Data

We collect anonymised usage events (such as which MRT stations or bus stops you search for) to understand how the app is used and improve its features. This data is not linked to your identity unless you are signed in.

Saved Preferences

If you are signed in, we store your saved commutes, favourite stations, notification preferences, and home/work addresses on our servers. This data is used solely to provide the app's features.

Push Notification Subscriptions

If you enable push notifications, we store your browser's push subscription token on our servers. This token is used only to send you the notifications you have opted into (last train alerts, departure reminders).

Location Data

If you grant location permission, your device's GPS coordinates are used locally to find nearby stations and stops. We do not transmit or store your precise location on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide and improve the app's features (real-time arrivals, journey planning, fare calculation)
Send push notifications you have opted into
Remember your saved commutes, favourites, and preferences across devices
Analyse aggregate usage patterns to improve the app (anonymised data only)
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

SG Arrivals uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Google OAuth — for sign-in authentication (privacy.google.com)
LTA DataMall — for real-time MRT and bus arrival data (datamall.lta.gov.sg)
NEA Weather API — for Singapore weather forecasts (api.data.gov.sg)
AeroDataBox — for Changi Airport flight data (aerodatabox.com)
Google AdSense — for displaying advertisements (policies.google.com/privacy)

Google AdSense may use cookies and similar technologies to serve personalised advertisements based on your browsing activity. You can opt out of personalised ads at adssettings.google.com.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

SG Arrivals uses:

Session cookies — to keep you signed in between visits
localStorage — to store your favourite stations and app preferences locally on your device
Google AdSense cookies — to serve relevant advertisements (see Section 3)

You can clear cookies and localStorage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset your local preferences.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or request deletion of your data, we will remove your personal information from our servers within 30 days.

Anonymised usage analytics data (which cannot be linked back to you) may be retained for longer periods for aggregate analysis.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are not stored — authentication is handled entirely by Google OAuth.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

SG Arrivals is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw consent for push notifications at any time (via app settings or browser settings)
Opt out of personalised advertising (via adssettings.google.com)

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of SG Arrivals after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
